Connecting with people is the start of all interactions. It is very hard to recover from a bad start of a poor first impression. One part of our body that plays a very important part in helping us get off to a good start is our eyes. We don’t consciously control our pupils but we do control our gaze. If people look past you when you are speaking to them, you know they are not listening. If they look anywhere except at your eyes, you will get the impression that they are losing interest in what you are saying. So, try this. Whenever you meet someone, make an effort to look at their eyes especially when you first meet them. Be very careful not to let your gaze wander at this critical time. If people notice that you are focusing your gaze on their eyes, they will get the impression that you are interested in what they have to say. A good start to a relationship.
