Start by reading

Reading aloud is a skill in itself.

You simply write what you intend to say big enough to read in poor lighting.

Space the lines so they can be read and separated easily. Leave gaps where you intend to pause. Leave gaps where you intend to look up. Underline words that you want to emphasise. Decide which words need real emphasis.

‘ What you MUST do with this information is….’

Now read this through several times to become familiar with the words, the flow, the emphasis, the pauses, the look ups and the build at the end. The beginning and end are the most important parts so get them near perfect. Get the final sentence word perfect so you can look up and connect with your audience.

How many times should you read what you have written? As many times as it takes for you to be comfortable.

You will gradually move away from reading your presentation. You will keep looking up until one day, you can speak without  looking down. It will come.
