Personality – an excuse?

Have you ever used your personality as an excuse? “I can’t speak to a group. I am too much of an introvert.” ” I can’t help talking so much. I’m an extrovert.”

The introvert/extrovert bias is partly set at birth but partly learned. It is possible to stretch this aspect of your personality with hard work. Introverts can become very skilled public speakers. Some of our best speakers, entertainers and comedians are introverts. Extroverts can learn to contain their energy and become excellent listeners, counsellors, salespeople. If you do the work, you will reap the benefits of being able to influence a much wider range of people and personalities.
