Leadership vacuum

October 1, 2018 by Paddy Spruce

The fundamental responsibility of a leader is to create a direction and a vision beyond individual self interest. It seems we have a vacuum at the top in Government and Business. An alternative to complaining or becoming a cynic is to fill the vacuum. You can fill the vacuum yourself by making sure you have a clear vision for your work team and your family. Maybe even your book club or tennis club. Ask the question ‘Where do we want to be in five years and what values are important to us’.

If our leaders are not doing enough to make Australia into the great nation that it can be, we can do our bit at a local level.

It’s easy to complain. It is much harder to plan for a better future and demonstrate our values through our behaviour.

We are a generous, friendly nation. Let’s show this to everyone we meet. It only takes one gesture to have tourists thinking all Australians are helpful and friendly.
