By front door I mean direct route. Tell people exactly what you want and when. Save time by getting to the point. Some languages are more direct than others. Some people are more direct.
By back door, I mean indirect route. Be subtle about telling people what you want. Ask questions to assess their openness to what you are going to ask. Some languages are indirect and very polite. Some people are very indirect. The people that know them know what they want.
The directs think that the indirects need to be more direct. The indirects think that the directs are blunt.
Which is your favoured style? Can you do either or both when required?
Different strokes for different folks, obviously. You may find it difficult to cross over but your ability to influence others and get what you want will improve if you match your style to the other person.
Don’t judge. Just adjust.
